Maritime Dundee

A harbour has existed in Dundee since the 12th century. For many centuries the coastline was the focal point for the burgh's trade with the merchants and seamen living close by. Whales and walrus, textiles, sugar and jute all passed through these ever-growing harbours. Discover a 17th century Sea Captain's House, the Frigate Unicorn and the Royal Research Ship Discovery. Your guide will tell of the men - and woman - who made the sea their life.

The Royal Burgh

Medieval Dundee was a close-knit community that saw regular attacks by English forces. This ensures plenty of tales of siege victims and perpetrators. Discover the hidden, altered and surviving sites from this formative period in Dundee's history. Starting at the Castle hill this walk takes in a 16th century merchant's house, the city churches and tower as well as a Franciscan orchard.
